Finally, NTT DOCOMO has stopped providing the Docomo Wi-Fi service for visitors to Japan.
NTT DOCOMO, INC. will discontinue providing “docomo Wi-Fi for visitors,” a prepaid public Wi-Fi service for foreign visitors to Japan, on February 28, 2021.
This service is a public Wi-Fi service provided mainly for foreign visitors to Japan, utilizing the “docomo Wi-Fi” network.
This service is a carrier-free public Wi-Fi service provided mainly to foreign visitors to Japan using the “docomo Wi-Fi” network.
Docomo Wi-Fi service initially began as a trial service in August 2014 and was officially launched on March 30, 2017. They have been providing services such as selling coupons that enable customers who visit Japan.
It is regrettable because the service was well received by international customers as a good service.
Prior to the termination of this service, DOCOMO will stop accepting new applications for this service on Monday, August 31, 2020.

Since March 2020, DOCOMO has been offering “dWi-Fi”, a public Wi-Fi service for dPoint Club members that is free of charge for domestic users, and Docomo plans to extend this service, “dWi-Fi” for foreign visitors to Japan in the future.
However, it is unclear whether the dWi-Fi service will be offered to the tourist differential in the future.
